packing for istanbul!

As you know from a previous post, we are taking a trip to Istanbul this spring.  Where it is a relatively big trip, I spent this weekend planning out how to pack my suitcase and with what {as well as what I still might need for the trip}. While Ed has been to Turkey a few times, I’ve never been.  He planned the trip and I’ve been doing my research on the culture and sites so I can catch-up with him.  This is one of my favorite parts of travel – the learning.  They say to travel is evolve and I couldn’t agree more.  You are stepping out of your comfort zone and experiencing an entirely different part of the world & culture.  It makes you realize how small the globe really is.

Turkey is a conservative country, and the weather will be comparable to the weather in Boston so I am going to pack mostly basics and layers that are comfortable enough for long days of site seeing & suitable for a range of temperatures, yet chic enough for a stylish city like Istanbul.  Some of these pieces double up as new spring pieces for a spring wardrobe as well.

As we travel our way and see the sites, I’ll be sharing highlights on Instagram along the way.  I also plan to share a recap with you of our favorite restaurants and sites from the trip in a separate post when we return.  In the meantime, here is about what I’ll be taking with me including some of my favorite safe beauty products.  The nutrient day cream {#10} is my go to sunscreen for my face.  It is both effective, safe & full of nutrients, and good for all skin types {I use my argan oil underneath for additional moisture} the mascara {#4} is brilliantly packaged in a tube with an amazing brush. It both lengthens & thickens lashes – also it is mercury free unlike many unsafe mascaras.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 + conditioner {you need this for the non-toxic ingredients to stick to your lashes & for the mascara to wear well} | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 {10% off your first purchase}

Some evenings we will end up eating somewhere we discover along the way, but for a few evenings we have identified places that we’d like to go to and will dress up a bit for. I’ve included a few evening pieces along with my RMS Beauty must have’s – a highlighter for a dewy glow {#3}, and a spring lip2cheek blush/lip color {#6} made with organic ingredients including coconut & castor seed oil.

Wishing you a great start to your week!
