off the beaten path

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!!  Last week I shared with you that I was going to be out of the office for a few days to try to take advantage of summer as I gear up for a few big events and projects happening in September and October.  On Monday and Tuesday I went to visit a former amazing yoga instructor of mine who has become a great friend.  She moved to the Vineyard “for the summer”,  a few years ago,  fell in love while out there, got engaged to a wonderful man and never came back {don’t you just love that story?}.  Now she teaches full time on the Vineyard both at some beautiful venues and also privately.  It was not only a wonderful opportunity to catch-up but we had a really lovely two days.

The second day we spent slightly off the beaten path which was a nice escape.  We started the day at this lovely outdoor coffee shop called Behind the Bookstore Coffee Bar with a beautiful garden for seating.  They have amazing coffee but also fresh juices and an assortment of healthy breakfast items.

We then decided to venture on to Chappaquiddick Island which is a less than 10 minute ferry ride from Edgartown.  The only thing on the island in terms of stores is a small general store selling some crackers, some snacks and a few household items.  The rest consists of mostly private homes, a beautiful japanese garden called Mytoi garden and breathtaking beaches with all sorts of trails leading you to them.  We spent the day wandering and it was as if we were in another world.  It was interesting that I had been to Martha’s Vineyard many times, but never took the time out to visit Chappaquiddick.  It was nice to be off the beaten path for a bit.

During my time there I learned that Meg Ryan has a beautiful beach home on the island.  It was featured in Elle Decor a few years ago actually.   Her laid back, clean island chill style beautiful home in my opinion captures the essence of the island.

Wishing you a beautiful Monday!
