mother’s day gift ideas {twelve of them + 1 that gives back}

Hello and how I’ve missed you!

It’s May first and and we are finally into Spring – a season of new beginnings.  I hope you’ve been able to take in the beauty of the sunshine and handful of warmer days.  With Mother’s day and summer arriving, I wanted to share twelve gift ideas with you based on what I am seeing from designers for this season.  Most of these items are from Neiman Marcus and the timing could not be more perfect as they are having 25% off for friends and family today through Saturday {some exclusions apply}.

As well I am sharing a gift/card idea that gives back to an organization in Boston doing wonderful things to help women who are experiencing homelessness or poverty get back on their feet.

1 | This fragrance from Creed is like summer in a bottle – it is very uplifting with notes of bergamot, lime, coconut, hibiscus, jasmine and tropical wood. A scent that can easily be worn all summer long.

2 | GOOP came out with her latest book sharing integrated health and wellness tips, including some of her delicious and healthy recipes, product and exercise recommendations for clean beauty.

3 |  Pool slides are such a trend this summer.  These adorned versions by Tory Burch would make for a really fun {and practical} gift.

4 | This pillow is referred to as the ‘age delay pillow’, in a shape to cradle the face, made with a smooth satin finish for the delicate skin on your face to minimize lines created from more traditional sheets/pillows.

5 | This luxurious body oil by Tata Harper is made in small batches in Vermont.  It smells like a bouquet of roses & is hydrating yet fast absorbing, so it doesn’t leave the skin greasy.   This product is made of botanical ingredients and is 96% organic.  I have used a number of body oils and find this one to be the most effective in terms of hydration.  The quality and scent makes it a beautiful gift.

6| I came across this florist on Instagram, and love her flower hat boxes.  She is based out of Newton MA, so you would have to check on delivery depending on your geography, but what a lovely gift to send to the mother’s in your life.

7 | Who wouldn’t want a fabulous beach towel?  These round designs by the Beach People are the only towel you need this summer.

8| This sandal is a basic with a flair.  I have a different version of this sandal and have to say it is incredibly comfortable for walking.  The neutral color palette makes it easy to wear with just about anything.

9 | Bell-sleeves are everywhere this season.  This take on them is subtle but elegant for those cooler summer days/nights.

10| Oversized sunglasses are always a good idea.  These square sunnies  by Karen Walker  are my current favorite.

11|  Gucci has hit it out of the park with a lot in terms of their designs – particularly these slides.  They are comfortable, practical and would truly make an outfit.

12| This handmade straw sun hat is super fun for the beach and a fabulous silhouette.

Mother’s Day gifts are always fun to give and get, but the gifts that make the most impact are often those that give back.  The Women’s Lunch Place in Boston is an exceptional daytime women’s shelter that helps change lives with unconditional support, dignity and tools to help women suffering from poverty and homelessness get back on their feet.  They are not federally funded and rely on individual and corporate donations, as well as funds they raise through their own events.   Each mother’s day they create a card designed by one of their guests.

For $25 you can order one for a mother you know to be personalized and mailed.  The $25 donation will go towards nutritious meals and other critical support services they provide for women – A $25 donation provides a nutritious meal for 14 women – it is one of the best Mother’s Day cards you can buy.

Wishing you a beautiful start to May!
