inspired: gray malin | featured today on One King’s Lane

I have lived in my flat for almost six years now, and while I would say it’s entirely decorated at this point {thanks to some help from my fabulous interior designer friends}, I am still looking for 1 special piece of artwork.  A few years ago, I found a vintage sewing table at an antique store in Essex which I had refinished in a grey lacquer paint which now houses a mini bar and some coffee table books.  What I am looking for now is the perfect piece of artwork to hang above it.

I like the idea of having a piece of art that brings in some fun colors and evokes a feeling of people enjoying themselves.  While I am still obsessing over Slim Aarons’ work, I recently I came across artist Gray Malin who shoots stunning scenes insprired by his world travels.  He is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston where he majored in photography and marketing and I think it’s pretty clear where his passion lies.  He started out by showing his work at the internationally known Melrose Fairfax Flea Market in Los Angeles where he was noticed by celebrities, designers and gallery curators alike.  I have no doubt his photos are hanging up in homes around the globe.

Today, One Kings Lane is hosting a sale with some of his pieces starting at 11am.  It will be interesting to see which pieces they will be featuring.  I am particularly inspired and intrigued with his À la plage | À la piscine series {French for at the beach | at the pool} which highlights stunning aerial shots from beaches and pools around the world…Here is a sampling of it.

This last image is of a secret beach in San Tropez.  Something tells me that having a picture like this hanging in your home during the cold winter months {if you endure long cold winters like I do} would be a welcome sight.  If you are interested in the sale, you can find it here beginning at 11 am and ending on Monday of next week.

Wishing you a day filled with inspiration!
