hippie chic

I hope you are staying cool in the heatwave we continue to endure here in New England!!  While you try to do so, I thought you’d appreciate hearing about some great art/fashion culture taking place in Boston.

Last night the Museum of Fine Arts held a members only event to kick-off the opening of a new fashion exhibit where art culture meets fashion culture.  Featuring bell-botoms, tie-dye and fringe, Hippie Chic, is a new exhibit that has been 2 years in the making for the team at the MFA which displays fashions from an incredible cultural revolution inspired by hippies.

There are over 50 different looks in the mix, including a gown that Barbara Streisand wore.  I have to say I love some of the looks from the 1960’s and 70’s.  While it’s a vintage assortment, I think some of the more psychedelic garments have a modern look to them that I would wear today, and lets face it, has bohemian ever gone out of style?  Not since I’ve been around, and I would bet that the bohemian fashion era will continue to influence fashion and trends in seasons to come.

Did you notice the shag carpet on some of the mannequin platforms {love it}?!  It’s really nice to see the MFA bring in another exciting exhibit around fashion culture.  You can get more information on visiting the exhibit click here.

stay cool,
