fabulous flamboyance

I recently learned that a flock of flamingos is also referred to as flamboyance.  Flamingos to me are glamorous in look and feel, and always make a statement.  I could design an entire event around them.  The idea of this elegant bird in beautiful pink colors living in warm climates is a relatively glamorous one.  Known to be social birds and revered as a representation of the gods by the ancient Egyptians, they have come back into fashion in a big way.  We’ve seen a lot of them this spring and summer, and my prediction is that we’ll see more of them for Holiday as well.  Not only in fashion, but through home décor and entertaining – flamingos bring a retro-glam feel, great style and a perfect splash of color to each of these things.

Naturally, I’ve seeked out some fun pieces that can help you incorporate some of these social colorful birds into your life!

for your wall | make this  pink ladies print glam by adding a vintage gold frame and placing over a bar cart or in an entryway.
for your bar | flamingo cocktail stirrers {need I say more?}
for your frock | fancy or not, this Edie Parker clutch would make a fabulous statement piece for a frock or a simple black strappy top and white pant.   It is from her holiday 2013 collection and available for pre-order now via Moda Operandi.
for your mojito | these glasses from ikea are adorable and would dress up any bar
for the beach | how fun are these beach towels?

cheers to the flamingo!
