Dodie Thayer for Tory Burch

It’s always exciting to see brands collaborate in the world of fashion, design and textiles.  I recently learned of Tory Burch’s latest collaboration with Dodie Thayer, who is known for her Palm Beach Glam style lettuce dinnerware.  Self-taught she would mold her pottery from lettuce and cabbage leaves to create tureens & bowls, platters & plates.  Each piece is hand-made and took two weeks from start to finish to create {true works of art}.

Her collection has graced the tables, homes and dinner parties, of Jacequeline Kennedy Onasis, the Dutchess of Windsor and C.Z. Guest.

While she retired years ago, pieces from her collection would make occasional appearances at auctions and would be sold almost immediately.  According to Tory Burch’s blog, Tory was a collector herself, and always loved Dodie’s colorful, bold style.  Below is a tablescape of Tory Burch’s with her personal set of vintage Dodie Thayer pieces.  I love how she used them in her garden setting and balanced them out with white accents and a plain tablecloth.

Two years ago she asked Dodie if she would consider a collaboration to launch a line for Tory Burch and she agreed!

Today, there is a robust collection of dinnerware, canapé plates, bowls, cups and saucers available via Tory Burch’s website, making these unique pieces available for stylish hostesses around the globe.

These are so pretty to layer in for spring and al fresco dinners, especially dinners in the garden.  Would you agree?

Wishing you a day filled with inspiration,
