chic cabanas

Now that it’s technically spring in Boston, I am craving some al fresco entertaining.  It’s so wonderful to be able to take a dinner outside and enjoy the warmth of the summer months.  From an event perspective as well it’s nice to do that for a wedding or even a corporate event.  And while I automatically think of a patio or a tented event, there are some stunning cabanas out there just waiting to be utilized for entertaining.

A few years ago, I put together an event at a hotel in Las Vegas for a corporate sales meeting which was hosted out of a series of cabanas at Caesar’s Palace.  Each cabana had it’s own bartender and waitstaff passing hors d’oeuvres so that guests could mingle amongst cabanas as well as poolside.  It was incredibly well received especially given that the guests were indoors all day in meetings.

Elle Decor featured some stunning cabanas from around the world that I thought would be worth sharing.  Some specifically designed by fashion designers {what a fun project for them!!}.  These would be lovely to either lounge with your loved ones or host a fun cabana party.

This one was designed  for the St. Regis Princeville Resort on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, by fashion designer Trina Turk.  If you are familiar with her collections she is known for bright and cheerful colors and patterns in her resort wear.

This cabana was designed by interior designer Kelly Wearstler for the Viceroy in Anguilla.  How is this for an unobstructed view?

Designed for the Four Seasons Maui by fashion powerhouse Missoni.

Designer Patricia Urquiola decorated the W Vieques cabanas.  There are twelve  available; six of which overlook the pristine pool and ocean, with the other six located in a secluded garden.

This residential cabana is lovely!!  Love the artwork on the back wall as a focal point.

This is an image of designer Reed Krakoff’s pool and cabana in South Hampton.

Aerin Lauder’s chic home in Southampton with a lovely poolhouse for entertaining.

Once you’ve landed on a cabana all you need to add is your guest list, some great music and easy to eat light dishes or small bites accompanied with lovely glasses of rosé.  Simple and lovely summer fun.
