Celebrating with Sweets

I hope you had a nice weekend!  I am excited to share one of my favorite shower themes that I came across via Martha Stewart a while back with you.

For anyone who has been to New York, I am sure you’ve been to the fairytale land of Dylan’s Candy bar.  It is a magical store for any candy lover.  With 3 levels in total, 2 of which have more candy and candy themed merchandise than you could ever imagine.  They also have a full wall of fame featuring favorite candies of celebrity guests.  The third floor has a cafe with all sorts of sweet treats and candy themed cocktails.  It is over the top and a candy lover’s dream for children and adult’s alike.

The store is the brainchild of Dylan Lauren, daughter of Ricky & Ralph Lauren who has always loved candy and it’s presence in her life.  So when it was time to organize her wedding shower, Darcy Miller knew that a candy themed shower would be perfect for Dylan {notice the candy necklace and ring on Dylan}.  There is not a detail missing here….

The Invitations:  Guests received a customized chocolate bar with a custom wrapper designed by Darcy herself.  I love these candy bars and the customization options that you can do with them in terms of flavors and messages on the bars themselves.

The Candy:  Of course there were candy bars for guests to help themselves to all sorts of amazing candy treats.  I love the way this is done with Dylan and her fiancé’s {at the time, now husband} initials.

The Guestbook:  Well done with candy shaped notecards and a candy holder.  I also like the idea of having a guestbook at a shower, you don’t always see that and it’s a nice personal touch for the bride-to-be.

The Cocktails:  Bubble-Gum Martini’s and Lemon Drops.

Notice the jelly bean lining on the tray below.

The talented Peter Callahan from Callahan Catering put together a beautiful menu of small bites which I love.  Serving small bites rather than a large meal is such a fun way to entertain.

Look at these adorable caviar topped rings.  Perfect for an engagement party or shower.

Mini cones filled with savory treats.

The french fries with a drawing matching the invitation make for an adorable presentation.

Mini milkshakes and chocolate cookies

And a fondant cake.

Darcy gifted Dylan with this edible candy flower arrangement {perfect!}.

Love this welcome table as well, this would be adorable for a children’s party and can easily be customized by theme or color.  Notice the mosaic backdrop made of chiclet gum.

I actually had the absolute pleasure of working with Dylan Lauren and her team at Dylan’s Candy Bar for a product launch event combining candy & fashion.  One of the elements of the event we created was a similar table for guests which had the color palette of the brand for media and VIP’s to help themselves to.  We had gift bags available so that all guests would leave Dylan’s Candy Bar with some fabulous candy treats.

I’ve always believed that the more you bring details to life for an event that represent the guest of honor or brand, the better it will be.  The details are the difference between a nice event and a magnificent experience.  Customizing them and threading them through as they were done here, gives the event a depth & meaning that guests will always remember.

Have a sweet day!
