beach bag ready

Tomorrow is officially the first day of summer which is incredibly exciting.  According to the astrological calendar the summer solstice is one of the great turning points of the year.  Friday will be the longest day of the year and then we begin our journey into the Winter solstice.  So with that, I am all about making the most of these precious summer and beach days.

This past weekend I went to the beach with one of my dearest girlfriends, it was a lovely way to kick-off the summer {early}. Coming off of a busy week, I threw a beach bag together and ran out the door with no planning and barely a moment to think about it.  I didn’t feel as though I had put together my best packed bag,  and now that I’ve had the run through, I’ve landed on my essentials for this year’s beach bag.

1 | this Vix linen cover-up is currently on-sale and a simple, feminine piece that I would also wear as dress.  I like how it can transition effortlessly from the beach to a post beach cocktail somewhere close after.

2 | this Miu Miu floral applique triangle bikini is one of my favorite bathing suits of all time.  It is elegant, glamorous and fun all at the same time. I really like this color for summer, however it is also available in cobalt blue.

3 | you can’t go wrong with these Kate Spade square stud earrings.  I actually have this light pink color and it’s a fabulous neutral.  I wear them often and like that they are opaque.

4 | the bigger the better when it comes to sunglasses {for me}.  I think they offer your face an additional layer of protection from the sun and I like the light color of these Victoria Beckham D-framed sunglasses.

5 | a light colored sandal is a must for me both at the beach and around the city.  these J.Crew collection snakeskin sandals {on-line exclusive} are a great summer basic.

6 | these two products are my absolute must haves:  dessert essence jojoba oil for your hair is incredible.  I put a bit in before I get to the beach and also use it as an anti-frizz after going in the water.  A dime size is all you need and it not only keeps your hair shiny, it’s an excellent deep conditioning treatment for your hair.

This Sothy’s Soins Soleil Cellu-Guard 30 SPF is my go to sunscreen {fragrance free & hypoallergenic}.  It has been for years.  I was basically raised with Sothy’s skin care products as my mother is an aesthetician and incredibly selective as to what she uses on her skin {she has the beautiful skin to prove it too}.  While I have tried other sunscreen options, this is hands down my favorite.

Wishing you an absolutely lovely last day of spring,
