a luxury escape

This time of year is such popular time to jet set and get some sun {for those of us living in colder climates}.  During yesterday’s blizzard I was perusing new hotel openings and took some time to focus on the the Caribbean, and the plethora of magical islands just awaiting those of us dealing with winter blues to be sun kissed.

I came across the stunning resort – Malliouhana an Auberge Resort Collection hotel in Anguilla which was renovated & re-opened in the Fall.  The resort has 44 ocean-view rooms and suites and is set on 25 acres of lush, landscaped gardens that merge with one and a half miles of pristine white-sand beaches on the Caribbean Sea – that water looks heavenly and the hotel designed with an emphasis on refreshing whites and pops of blue matching the Caribbean Sea is balanced to perfection.

With a restaurant offering a magical view featuring seasonal ingredients and a vegan menu option {for those interested}, guest chefs and a spa menu with treatments you could only find in the carribean.  I couldn’t help myself from reading up on the spa treatments specifically and was intrigued by the warm shell massage and “Island Drift” treatment which includes a rum foot soak & a coconut milk rinse, followed by a sweet sugar cane body exfoliation and a lemongrass ginger steamed towel infusion, finished with a coconut creme massage – sound so sweet and heavenly as I stare out my window to a street full of cars buried in snow!

Stunning!  I am going to be thinking about that Island Drift treatment all day.  I need to mention that this would be a stunning resort for a destination wedding as well – with only 44 rooms, you could take over most or all of the resort depending on your guest list.

How about you, do you have any favorite Caribbean destinations that you like to sneak away to during these cold winter months?  Do tell – i’d love to hear about them.
