a few of my favorite things | november

It’s mid-November and as you can see from my board,  fall comfort is on my mind especially for when it comes to being home and entertaining.  This month I am inspired by healthy comfort food recipes, beautiful warm sweaters, and Thanksgiving table scapes.

1 | I am really loving Tory Burch’s take on the fisherman sweater this year, with the fringe detail she incorporated.  Adorable, and can easily be worn casually with a skinny pant or with an short winter skirt and boots.

2 | I’ve been working on my Thanksgiving tablescape for this year, and after playing with a few color schemes, I have decided to go with whites, different shades of brown with modern gold accents.  I am drawn to the simplicity of a monochromatic palette this year as opposed to the plums and burgundy’s of previous years.  I just ordered a test print of this menu to see how it works with the rest of the elements {I will share the final table design with you}.

3 | Fall and the holidays are the perfect time to entertain or stay in and snuggle on the couch.  A good smelling candle just adds warmth to the home and I find to be very comforting. I love Diptiques candles, not only for their beautiful yet not overpowering scents but also because they use a cotton wick as opposed to lead wicks found in many other brands.  This fig scent is beautiful for Fall, I have it in the mini version for in my bathroom.

4 | Last week I made this recipe by goop, it is delicious!  Cauliflower “risotto”, with spinach, but without the risotto.  The cauliflower is pulsed in a food processor and takes on a beautiful consistency when cooked with water and parmesan cheese.  Essentially you create the risotto out of cauliflower – it is so good, very warming and really healthy.

5 | I have an obsession for good olive oil.  It is a staple in my household since I make my own salad dressings almost every day, and cook with a lot of it.  Norma Kamali sources amazing olives to make her own line of olive oils.  The provence 2 is my favorite with floral notes that on it’s own adds lovely floral, grassy notes to a dish.   She just released her new harvest and this would make a beautiful hostess or holiday gift for any foodie.

Wishing you a November filled with gratitude.
